DESCRIPTION:

Intersex Genital Mutilation (IGM) is still being practiced in most countries around the world. With the emergence of the international intersex movement, and more and more human rights institutions condemning this practice, it’s time to join forces to end intersex human rights violations. During the session, we will explore the situation in Europe and look at national activities to end IGM. We will address questions such as: How can we protect the bodily integrity and self-determination of intersex children and youth? What are EU Member States and the European Union doing to end those violations? How can allies support local and European intersex movements

SPEAKERS:

Dan Christian Ghattas Executive Director (OII Europe)

Tinou Ponzer Vice-Chairperson (VIMÖ – OII Austria)

Paul Haller Project Coordinator

Didier Houttequiet Policy Officer at European Commission
